Two New Bills Have Been Proposed to Regulate CBD and Kratom in Pennsylvania
Republican representative, Jim Struzzi, of Indiana filed two pieces of legislation which would regulate the production and sale of kratom and CBD products in the state of Pennsylvania. The first bill, House Resolution 459, would encourage the FDA to provide guidelines to the Commonwealth regarding CBD and CBD products. There aren’t any quality standards currently which means that there is little consistency in the market. It is important that consumers receive quality products as well as products that are safe.
These new standards with allow retailers to properly market their products as well as provide consumers with the peace of mind that they deserve. The bill, House Resolution 460, would encourage the FDA to provide guidelines to over-the-counter sales of kratom. This product has come under scrutiny by the FDA and the US Drug Enforcement Administration. The actions ban this substance have been withdrawn based on public disproval. Kratom is a substance that has helped many overcome opioid addiction. There ought to be guidelines and regulations governing its use, however, as it can become dangerous if abused.
