Marijuana Movement
Petition by the Medical Marijuana 2020 Campaign, an Initiative for Mississippi General Elections
An amendment to ratify medical Marijuana was submitted to the US Secretary Of State’s office on the 4th of Sept by the Medical Marijuana 2020 campaign.
Medical Marijuana 2020 is an initiative funded and operated by a group of people in Mississippi called “Mississippians for Compassionate Care” to make medical Marijuana available for patients with impairing medical conditions. The campaign is endorsed by a Steering committee of medical and health care executives, law enforcement officials, leaders in the faith community, and veterans.
More than 86,000 signatures are requisite on the petition to qualify for a constitutional amendment for the November 2020 Mississippi general election ballot. The reform if approved by the voters would then allow medics to prescribe medical marijuana for patients with chronic diseases and then allow those patients to acquire medical marijuana legally and securely from treatment centres authorized and regulated by the Mississippi Department of Health.
A total of 33 states have already legalized medical Marijuana and designed a secure and effective means to distribute and regulate it in the USA. It is a much safer alternative to opioids and can treat chronic pain unresponsive to other forms of medications. The National Institute of Health has also affirmed that the US Food and Drug Administration has now authorized THC-based medications for patients with severe conditions such as cancer, epilepsy, and AIDS.
Medical Marijuana 2020 is purely healthcare campaigns which apart from assisting patients, will also reinforce the state’s economy by introducing the legal booming Cannabis market.
