To ensure that more of the industry is represented, coordinators of the even have invited members of the American Society of Cannabis Medicine (ASCM) to participate. ASCM is a professional society, based out of Washington DC, and it advocates for medical cannabis to make responsible progress in the regulatory environment.
At the event, chief executive officer and executive vice president of the ASCM, Garnett Meador, will have the opportunity to speak individually. After his session, he will be part of a panel that will discuss the current regulations that govern the medical cannabis industry.
So far, over 30 states have legalized the use of medical marijuana in their regions, though Meador will offer a perspective on “the good, the bad, and the ugly” of the regulations that exist throughout the US. According to an article with Health Europa, Meador stated,
“We are very pleased to be part of such a strong programme. We believe that highly dedicated physicians want to understand as much as they can about medical cannabis, so they are able to appropriately help their patients. Gatherings like this help to facilitate the professional advancement of medical cannabis.”
Another member of ASCM, Jeffrey S. Block, MD, will be speaking individually as well. After his talk, he’ll be joining a panel of doctors that discuss medical cannabis on a clinical level, while Dr. Block will be presenting an overview on the science and bioethics of the substance called “Cannabis Conundrums.” The presentation will be based on his own knowledge of the endocannabinoid system and cannabinoids.”
Dr. Block has a reputation as being an authority in healthcare and natural-earth sciences. This type of knowledge gives him a unique perspective on the endocannabinoid receptor system, as well as the potential that it holds. He’s been consulted by many medical professionals in his career, making him popular at lectures, though he is also an American Board-Certified Anesthesiologist with a specialized interest and expertise in the use of natural botanicals to treat various conditions.
The American Society of Cannabis Medicine aims to offer support, guidance, and education to legislators and physicians that seek to understand that medical cannabis industry.
It offers information on cannabinoids, the endocannabinoid system in the human body, and the clinical research behind these topics. It acts as the voice for physicians that see cannabis as an essential component of national healthcare initiatives. The information that it offers is respected and trusted by stakeholders in the community, as well as leaders for the industry and the legislators that bring the medical cannabis laws to life.
