High Profile Doctors Examine CBD and Your Body: What’s Normal and What’s Not?
  • CBD is linked to the relief of anxiety and inflammation.
  • At high doses, consumers may experience nausea and interference with other medications.

The whole world seems to be learning about CBD right now, and it is such a new formula that many companies are coming out with their own version. However, as the market is largely unregulated at the moment, there’s a little confusion over what it is actually like to use in the body. Recently, HuffPost Life set out to gather a greater understanding of what consumers should expect to go through, while warning them about signs that they need to be careful.

The legalization of hemp through the 2018 Farm Bill opened the door for many companies to cash in on this market. At the moment, the Food and Drug Administration is still deciding how to regulate the market, and many bad actors are entering the space out of the greed to make fast and easy money. Unfortunately, consumers need to be cautious about exactly what products they pick, if they don’t want to face potentially dire side effects.

Dr. Jordan Tishler, who works with cannabisMD as part of the medical advisory board, noted, “Many over-the-counter CBD products contain no CBD, or worse, may have dangerous ingredients in them like heavy metals or opiates.” Tishler is also the president of the Association of Cannabis Specialists.

With how many companies have popped up with false products, there are many consumers that are skeptical of even taking the risk, but Dr. Ethan Russo believes that doesn’t have to be the case. The director of research and development of the International Cannabis and Cannabinoids Institute commented that it is easy to believe that all of these products aren’t useful, but that would not be true.

Consumers still have limited access to research, but there are a few reactions that they should go through when using CBD. The most common reactions from the body include:

  • A reduction in inflammation, which directly reduces pain
  • Less anxiety, creating short-term relief of PTSD, social anxiety, OCD, panic disorder, and other anxiety-related conditions.
  • Better digestion, by reducing the issues in the gut associated with GERD

While these benefits may impact consumers differently, there are still some downsides that consumers may experience. CBD is strong enough to potentially interact with other medications that the user presently takes. One of the specific medications known to interact with CBD is warfarin, which is meant for the prevention of blood clots. Consumers may also experience nausea at high doses.

If the user experiences any adverse reaction with the use of CBD, it is best to stop using the substance and to speak with a medical professional. View the full list of CBD effects at https://www.huffpost.com/entry/body-on-cbd_l_5d8cd9d5e4b0e9e76049143c.
