Andrew Yang recently commented on the difference in treatment that marijuana and opioids receive in the United States. Even though marijuana is classified as a schedule I drug, opioid prescriptions seem to be quite rampant.
Specifically, he tweeted,
#DidYouKnow – There were more opiate prescriptions in the state of Ohio than people in Ohio. But marijuana is still classified as a schedule 1 drug.

This is not the first time that Yang has commented on the difference in treatment between marijuana and opioids. In October, Yang participated in a presidential debate in which he shared statistics and appeared to criticize the government on its inaction concerning the aggressive marketing of opioids by pharmaceutical companies, according to a report by Marijuana Moment.

According to a report by The Hill, Yang has previously indicated that he supports legalization of marijuana and the decriminalization of opioids in small amounts.
