A Sneak Peek Inside Apeks Supercritical Where Hand-Crafting Cannabis Oil Extraction Happens
A 30,000-square-foot space in Johnstown is the new home of Apeks Supercritical, a manufacturer of hemp and CBD botanical extraction equipment. The backyard barn in which founder and CEO, Andy Joseph started making the machine 18 years ago is a far cry from this facility that holds 44 workers who build, sell and ship the extraction machine.
Apeks Supercritical has amplified its revenue by 3,000% over seven years following the increased legalization of medical and recreational use of marijuana in various states. The company recently sold its 600th machine as demand rises along with that of products infused with cannabis and hemp. The former 17,000-square-foot home of the company stands adjacent to the new one and will soon hold a cultivation facility as Andy plans to open a dispensary in Newark.
The company says that it pioneered the carbon dioxide extraction systems designs used for cannabis oil extraction. Andy Joseph, US Navy veteran, and his wife Kristen, who own and operate the company are certified welders and engineers.
