Three New Willie Nelson Hemp CBD-Infused Loose Leaf Tea Flavors Announced
- The three new flavors of tea are hibiscus berry, chamomile, and peppermint.
- The brand, Willie’s Remedy, also includes coffee, hemp oil extract, and a topical balm, all available online.
Willie Nelson never shies away from the cannabis industry, but he’s infusing something new with CBD lately – loose leaf tea. The enjoyment of a freshly brewed cup of tea is already a relaxing experience, but Nelson’s brand – Willie’s Remedy – has infused black and green teas with CBD, listing them over the summer for sale on the official website. After seeing the successful launch, the company is bringing three new flavors – hibiscus berry, chamomile, and peppermint – and all of them are caffeine-free.
The decision to embark on a loose leaf tea line followed a successful launch of a CBD coffee in February. Elizabeth Hogan, a co-founder of Willie’s Remedy, spoke with BeverageDaily recently, noting that the coffee only took a week to completely sell out, and the sales have continued with the same veracity over the last six months.
Their coffee product is roasted first, and then infused with Colorado-based hemp oil, while the tea is meant to be blended with other herbs and flours. The coffee has just 1 mg of CBD for every gram of coffee bean, but the tea has double that amount for each gram of tea leaves.
Hogan spoke on the decision to combine CBD and tea, focusing on the routine and engagement of tea.
“Tea is a ritual which people are already familiar. We know how tea works in our lives and adding a version with the benefits of hemp creates an approachable, understandable, and shared occasion.”
To ensure that the tea still has the familiar and gentle taste that consumers often seek, the hemp selected is specifically chosen for the complementing taste.
With each three-ounce package of tea, consumers are provided with 300 mg of CBD, which means a cup of tea is about 15 mg of CBD, depending on how strong the consumer makes their tea. The flexibility of loose leaf tea puts the concentration of CBD at the discretion of the consumer. Once brewed, the tea can be served cold or hot, and the user will still get all of the benefits afforded to them with CBD.
In the black tea, consumers will find Ceylon tea, sourced from Sri Lanka, for a woody and fruity flavor, doused with pepper and molasses. The more classic English breakfast-style tea comes from Indian Assam tea with a spicier flavor. The green tea uses Chinese tea leaves for a fresh and delicious flavor, smelling like fresh cut grass, green wood, green pepper, and a hint of citrus.
Hogan explained, “CBD is trending, but the benefits of hemp are timeless,” commenting that the plant is created to work effortlessly with the endocannabinoid system. The ECS exists in all mammals, from humans to their pet dog. For so long, hemp has been kept out of foods, so there’s a bold and controversial view of adding it back in.
The coffee from Willie’s Remedy can be purchased in Dark Roast, Medium Roast, and Decaf. Along with the teas, consumers are invited to try the hemp oil tincture and the soothing balm, which are also available on the website.
