  • New Age is the first company to receive approval from the Japanese government for the sale of CBD products.
  • The initial launch will include three products – a body cream, a roll-on gel, and an oil.

New Age Beverages Corporation, or New Age, established itself as an organic and natural products company in Colorado with a goal of helping consumers to “live healthy” through their products and educational resources. According to reports from GlobeNewswire, the omni-channel company is expanding their reach to Japan. With approval from both the Japanese Narcotics Control Division and the Japanese Ministry of Health, New Age will be able to launch CBD products into the market immediately.

The approval marks a milestone for the Japanese Ministry of Health and Narcotics Control Division, since they have never approved any major company to sell its CBD products within their country’s borders. New Age developed a separate (but wholly owned) subsidiary last year for their CBD-infused products which includes Marley CBD-Infused Beverages and the ‘Nhanced product line of creams, oils, and roll-ons.

Consumers will be able to purchase the products through 50,000 direct-to-consumer consultants in Japan. The first few products to be launched include:

  • ‘NHANCED CBD Body Cream containing 150 mg CBD per 120 mL container
  • ‘NHANCED CBD Roll-On Gel containing 200 mg CBD per 90 mL container
  • ‘NHANCED CBD Oil containing 500 mg CBD per 30 mL container

The senior director in Japan for New Age, Fumiyuki Isami, stated that he feels confident that this brand has “one of the highest quality CBD portfolios worldwide and have leveraged all of our scientific insights and research and development expertise to develop these superior performing and highly efficacious products.” He added that New Age has been cooperating with the Japanese Narcotics Control Division and the Ministry of Health for the better part of a year to abide by the compliance concerns of the authorities.

Jarakae Jensen, the managing director of R&D for New Age, explained that the CBD products coming to the Japanese market were created “to meet stringent government hemp (cannabis sativa) and cannabidiol (CBD) regulations for safety, purity, and efficacy.” Jensen added that the CBD involved in these products comes from industrial hemp that was grown in the USA, stating that it “is processed extremely carefully to remove all leaves, flowers, buds and branches from the stem.” None of the CBD products contain any THC.

Along with the launch now for Japan, New Age has also finished the development of their beverages and dietary supplements as well. The company plans to launch these products in Japan this year as well, leading to a global roll out as the regulation in different regions evolves.
