Health Professionals Urge Marijuana Users to Disclose Smoking Activities to their Anesthesiologist

Many consumers are supposedly hiding their cannabis use from health professionals because they do not see it as anything more than a habit, but it should not be this way reports Marijuana Stox.

According to the claims made, Colorado’s health professionals are trying to encourage consumers to tell their doctors about their marijuana uses as it is a determining factor in the type of treatment they may require for other health concerns.

As per Dr. Andrew Monte, Associate Professor at University of Colorado School of Medicine and UCHealth’s Emergency Medicine and Medical Toxicology division shared that, “[Marijuana use] has been destigmatized here in Colorado […] We’re ahead of the game in terms of our ability to talk to patients about it.” He also added that they are leading the way when it comes to identifying possible complications that may arise from its uses.

The need for more open patients stems from a finding in one study where Colorado patients using marijuana needed more than three times the amount of a sedation medicine than that of non-users.

Certified Registered Nurse, Linda Stone wants to ensure that patients are not ashamed by their marijuana uses, stressing that, “They really do need to divulge that information,” so that health professionals can “provide the safest care.”
