Can Cannabis Compound CBD Be A Real Youthful Anti-Aging Remedy?
- Cannabis and CBD contain antioxidants that are good for the skin.
- Anti-aging products with CBD can be found in drug stores, local retailers, and Amazon.com.
As the body ages, the skin and other areas of the body stop producing collagen at the same levels of before, losing the plumpness in their cheeks and leaving wrinkles behind. There are even some young people that have wrinkles early on, which tends to come from sun exposure and poor skincare habits. While the biggest way to protect the complexion is to stay out of the sun, the skincare industry has a whole section of products that are specifically meant for reducing the appearance of aging.
Most of the skincare products on the market for anti-aging effects will have different antioxidants, but there is a company in Australia that is presently working on an anti-aging cream that is infused with CBD as an antioxidant. According to Business Insider, a three-year research project recently commenced in Australia, revealing that CBD contained a “family of proteins in human cells that act as anti-aging agents.”
With this discovery, BOD chose to integrate CBD into their anti-aging creams, though they are not the first company to do so. Amazon.com and other online retailers already have many CBD-based anti-aging remedies, though it has been marketed as a solution for pain, depression, sleeplessness, and anxiety primarily.
Dermatologist Joyce Imahiyerobo-Ip, in a 2017 interview with Marie Claire, stated,
“Cannabis is filled with antioxidants, like vitamin A, vitamin D, and vitamin E, all of which will be helpful in preventing damage and premature crepe-iness under your eyes.”
To put her money where her mouth is, the dermatologist chose to only use CBD-based beauty products for a whole month, discovering how much she personally enjoyed this trend.
Cannabis could potentially help with the complexion, due to the antioxidants that exist in it. However, the value of the skincare products associated with CBD could be debatable, since other products that already exist in the skincare industry are more cost effective and more widely available. For instance, Kush Queen offers their Defynt CBD Skin Serum for anti-aging, with a high price tag of $89.99, unlike the more cost-effective products without CBD that a priced well below the $50 mark.
