NBC Charlotte Defenders Tested for THC in CBD Oils: What’s the Truth?
- CBD products cannot exceed 0.3mg THC in any remedy, according to federal law.
- The NBC Charlotte Defenders recently researched five formulas to see what level of THC is included.
When it comes to CBD oil, the federal policies indicate that only trace amounts of THC can be included, not exceeding 0.3% of the formula. Companies that create these CBD formulas claim to follow this regulation, but a recent article from WCNC indicates that the NBC Charlotte Defenders team put a few formulas to the test, and it looks like these companies aren’t all together honest.
Testing For THC content in CBD Oils
The amount of THC contained in these products could influence a drug test, which means that it could interfere with the user’s job security or ability to get a job. Consumers trust when a product claims to have absolutely no THC, which is even more important for individuals that work in the government. Furthermore, formulas that exceed this amount could even cause consumers to pay a fine or be arrested.
The NBC Charlotte Defenders decided to purchase five bottles of CBD oil, coming from shops within Charlotte and online retailers. The team then sent the formulas to a lab in Portland called EVIO, which is an independent reputable testing facility.
Upon receiving their results, the team discovered the amount of THC in these bottles ranged from 0.027 milligrams to 30.5 milligrams, with no indication of these levels on the label. While all of those levels still fall under the legal limit, there’s a big difference in the buildup of THC in the body and impairing the body unintentionally.
There are many credible companies that choose to use a third-party lab for their testing to offer more valid results that are completely unbiased. These results are easy to find online, though there are companies that publish the results directly on their website. When purchasing CBD products, make sure to review lab reports to make sure you understand the products being used.
