NORML Cautions Consumers of Deceiving Claim for Cannabis Killing Coronavirus

Non-profit, cannabis advocacy group, National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), has warned consumers regarding a recent claim that marijuana kills coronavirus reports Merry Jane.

Based on what’s known thus far, thousands of Americans received text messages in which a link to a falsified Fox News article was included. The falsified advertisement shared that cannabis and CBD-related products are all it takes to kill the novel virus. Such stories aren’t new, as dishonest CBD manufacturers and many others are finding every possible way to benefit from this misfortune.

The news outlet also expounded on a number of other warnings issued across the U.S and Canada to name a few. In particular, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Federal Trade Commission forewarned Idaho-based, Herbal Army from selling CBD products in the form of a “coronavirus treatment package.” As for Canada, CBD Company, Mona Lisa Healing, was caught selling a similar package as well.

As for NORML, they’ve since brought awareness on research shared by cannabis firms. Furthermore, they’ve advised consumers against the consumption of cannabis-related products, especially those that are deemed illegal and have yet to be tested. In other words, it would be best to steer away from the Black Market altogether.

That said, here’s as per the organization’s Executive Director, Erik Altieri’s words:

“If something sounds too good to be true, it likely is […] During these difficult times, we encourage people to be skeptical of any unsubstantiated claims, particularly those circulating online, surrounding the use of cannabis or any other uncorroborated treatment for COVID-19.”
