CBD for Scalp Health: Is Cannabidiol Use Effective for a Full Head of Hair?

CBD for Scalp Health

The reliance on cannabinoids to improve health has increased ever since the positive effects of hemp-derived cannabidiol (CBD) was first revealed back in 2013. Since then, a number of studies have been conducted to truly understand where said benefits are coming from and if they are truly safe.

CBD has been popularly used for treatment purposes, especially for epilepsy. Today, it has harvested the attention of different target markets (even pets!) because of its multi-purpose properties. According to news outlet, Cannabis Health Insider, recent studies have concluded that CBD could potentially promote hair health (i.e. strong and thick hair).

What CBD Properties Promote Hair Growth?

One of the factors that promote healthy hair growth is protein. CBD supposedly carries an in-depth amino acids profile, which serve as the building blocks for protein. This in turn is believed to target the root of one’s hair problems, i.e. the hair follicles. Hair follicles allegedly benefit from CBD’s protective aspects, not to mention its ability to ensure that one’s scalp is moisturized, and proper circulation is established.

In addition to amino acids, CBD’s array of nutrients ranging of vitamins to healthy fats are deemed crucial for optimal hair growth. The presence of the former is deemed important for hair growth because it is what ensures that oxygen and nutrients are delivered to the scalp and hair follicles. As for healthy fats, CBD allegedly contains omega-3, which boosts hair growth by increasing protein in the body.

Final Call: Is CBD Effective or Ineffective for Hair Concerns

Despite the number of nutritional properties that CBD houses, it is really too soon to tell whether it is truly effective in promoting hair health. This is either because of the lack of repetitive and consistent findings or relatively small sample sizes used that make it difficult to make inferences about the general population.

Based on existing findings, it is trusted that CBD can be helpful because of its rich source of vitamins and minerals, healthy fats and the ability to induce protein presence in the body; not to forget its moisturizing abilities.

When it comes to one’s scalp, once again, CBD is conceived as effective in regulating sebum production, a naturally occurring oil which keeps one’s hair and skin well-hydrated. Other concerns that could be eliminated includes hair loss, and poor hair cell health.

With such uncertainty, consumers are often advised to either try small quantities to assess tolerance levels and/or possible side effects or to directly discuss said matters with a health professional.
