Hempz is a brand that develops multiple hemp-based products that allow consumers to nourish their body externally. Consumers may be able to purchase online, but the main place to purchase these products is through the third-party retailers.

What is Hempz?

Most companies that are looking to get into using CBD start with the creation of tinctures. Tinctures are completely liquid and allow consumers to create their own dose. However, beginners to the use of CBD do not really know how much CBD that they need in their body. Furthermore, considering that one of the biggest benefits of CBD is the way it staves off the pain, there are already many companies that are centering around that.

Hempz sets themselves apart, creating almost exclusively skincare, body care, and haircare products or consumers that want the relaxing benefits that CBD also affords. The company uses 100% pure natural hemp seed oil in every one of their products, which is exactly what they call the “secret” to the effectiveness of their treatments.

Each of the hemp sees offer a blend of nutrients, which Hempz breaks down into 25% protein, 30% carbohydrates, 15% nutrients, 15% fiber, and 15% “key minerals.” The vitamins included in every product include vitamins E, C, B1, B2, B3, and B6. They also contain iron, zinc, potassium, and carotene. Much of the key nutrients from hemp comes from the 3:1 ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 linoleic acids.

There is very little information about the actual company on the website, instead of turning the attention to the substantial number of treatments available.

The Importance of Hemp

All of the products involve the use of hemp, which is why consumers gravitate towards them in the first place. However, what exactly does this product do, and how? Hemp is a part of the cannabis family, which gives it the ability to offer a chemical compound called cannabidiol (CBD).

This chemical compound reacts against the receptors in the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which helps to regulate processes in the nervous system, immune system, the brain and more. There have been many scientific studies that show the effectiveness that CBD has in the body as a natural and organic solution to pain, anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.

Right now, CBD has not been completely decriminalized, but it does not appear to be illegal to actually sell, but most states allow for its use. The recent Farm Bill 2018 made it possible to create the remedies, though consumers will need to look out for trace minerals in most products that can show up on a drug screening.

Unfortunately, the website does not provide much information about the parts of the plant that it uses, apart from the inclusion of the seed. But consumers may be able to get more information from customer service or the actual packaging to learn more about the sources. Additionally, this company provides no information about third-party testing or any testing at all, which could be worrisome, considering how crucial this is to the efficacy and concentration of hemp.

Products from Hempz

The products from Hempz stretch across multiple topics, so the easiest way to describe the company is through the products. The website offers constant updates on their “What’s New” section to show off the new remedies that they are bringing to the industry. For instance, this section is featuring the Herbal Body Moisturizer right now, which helps users to keep their skin hydrated with a creamy texture and a citrus blend of aromas. It even includes quartz dust.

Read on below to learn about the other categories of the company’s products, and what they have to offer consumers.

Body

The Body section of the Hempz website includes moisturizers, washes, scrubs, and specialty items. They also have a few product lines that are specific to Hempz alone, like AromaBody and Fresh Fusions.

With the moisturizers, there are a few differences in scents, but they also have customized the reaction that consumers can get from them. There are age-defying remedies, an option for sensitive skin, and even one for triple moisture. This product contains pure hemp extract, as the hemp seed oil delivers essential fatty acids, protein, carbohydrates, and other key sources of nutrients to the skin.

The washes have the same kind of options, as far as the extra features and scent variations, as well as the scrubs and specialty items.

AromaBody are considered “ultra lux” remedies, which provide both intense moisture and an invigorating blend of essential oils that are meant to “lift your mood, soothe your skin, and invigorate your mind. Presently, these products are divided into categories that are based on the additional ingredients, including Blueberry Lavender & Chamomile, Milk & Honey, and Tahitian Vanilla & Ginger.

Fresh Fusion is a line that has three specific qualities – each product is “inspired by nature,” is “lightly scented,” and is “dye-free.” There are only five products in this product line, with two moisturizers, two body washes, and one salt scrub.

Hair

Just like skin, the hair on the body also needs a certain amount of fatty acids and proteins to nourish the strands for stronger, thicker, and more radiant hair. This section of the website only deals with two types of hair care remedies – daily and herbal.

The Daily Hair Care line includes pairs of products, with both a shampoo and conditioner for each one. The only extra feature over the scent variations is the triple moisture option. There is an original scent, which is for damaged and color-treated hair. Consumers can also choose from Pomegranate for moisturizing, Blushing Grapefruit & Raspberry Crème for keeping color, and Sweet Pineapple & Honey Melon for increasing volume.

The Herbal collection of hair products is designed for both color-treated and non-color-treated hair. In this collection, consumers can purchase shampoo, conditioner, dry shampoo, hairspray, and styling sculpt.

Sun/Sunless

The sun and sunless section of products has remedies for protecting users from succumbing to the UV rays of the sun, while offering other products that make it look like they spent that extra time in the sun.

The Daily SPF remedy nourishes all the skin with the nourishment that comes from Yuzu and Starfruit. All of the remedies, apart from the lip balm, has 30 SPF. Consumers can choose everyday remedies like a facial moisturizer, body moisturizer, and body spray. It also includes a product called Touch of Summer Fair, which is a self-fanning cream that allows the skin to darken without risking sunburn or overexposure to UV rays.

The sunless line of remedies gives consumers the ability to darken their skin without the need for exposure in the sun. There are variations for fair and medium skin, along with a body primer to prepare for use. The Touch of Summer products also finds their place here.

SoBronze, a sun line that is exclusive to Hempz, is meant for every skin type. It “combines advanced sunless technology with pure skin care ingredients, helping to create the perfect natural, custom shade of tan. Consumers can purchase a body bronzer compact, a body polish that exfoliates the complexion, and sunless airbrush tanner to reduce the risk of lines and dripping.

Golden Beach is meant to create an extremely dark complexion for the user while conditioning the skin and adding vitamins for a “natural tan glow.” There is a tan maximizer, that hydrates the complexion while speeding up the tanning process. A natural bronzer, which has no risk of streaking, but still blends with a natural tan for an even color. The “2x bronzer” provides a similar benefit but uses DHA and natural extracts to provide the glow they want after spending time in the sun. For a darker look, the company has the 4x bronzer.

Where to Purchase Hempz Products

Though the Hempz products are advertised on the website, consumers will find that there are multiple locations and types of distributors that have agreed to sell the remedies for the improvement of the CBD industry.

The average retailers, which are considered professional salons, include Beauty Brands, Beauty King, Chatters Hair Salon, Peninsula Beauty, Regis Salons, and Ulta Beauty.

Professional beauty distributors for the brand include Armstrong McCall, Ed Wyse Beauty Supply, ESP Salon Sales, CosmoProf, FourStar, and Freeman. It also includes K Group, Maritime Beauty, Peerless, Stafford, SalonCentric, and State Beauty Supply / RDA Pro Mart.

With the array pet products, the company also works with PetSmart, even though they do not list any items for use with animals on the website right now.

Social Media and Hempz

The Hempz brand is still fairly new, and they have been working to make themselves more known in the beautify industry by bringing their name into social media and by advertising through the above-mentioned retailers.

The company features their specials on Instagram right now, and they already have over a hundred posts to promote the products, and to bring attention to other products in the space.

The easiest way to stay up to date on their releases is through the Facebook page, which also allows consumers to directly message Hempz. However, Facebook policies do not allow the company to directly advertise right now.

Contacting Hempz

With so many products and so much information, consumers may find themselves with questions about the remedies or just the extracts in general. The customer service team has not posted hours, but they offer a phone number and an email address to get in touch.

  • Phone number: 1-800-851-4206
  • Email address: customerservice@hempz.com

Hempz Review Summary

Hempz centers around the topical use of hemp for improving the complexion and even tanning. This company is much different from the other brands that are presently out there and have been featured in multiple major publications like Elle, Grok Nation, GCI Magazine, and others. However, without the ability to purchase any of the products on the actual website, consumers can visit the nearest retailer to buy it in person.

Most CBD products from other companies should be run by a doctor before combining them with a prescription. However, since all of these treatments are topical and are primarily used for the nourishment of the complexion, there should be no conflict.
