CBD Seltzer Companies Look to Become the ‘White Claw of Cannabis’
America’s drinking scene has been taken over by the White Claw. Many prefer spiked seltzer as the healthier option to cocktails while others enjoy the excellent taste. White Claw has created an allegiance such that fans wear their logo on shirts and sometimes take photos with the drink in hand. Social media memes have embraced the white claw culture.
As cannabis scene comes in, corporates and small enterprises alike have responded by developing the marijuana version of the white claw. This is to keep up with the stiff competition in the beverage industry. However, according to Headset, which keeps a record of cannabis sale, beverages are yet to become popular in the marijuana industry. Headset shared these analytics with The Fresh Toast.
Marijuana-infused beverages only amount to about 1% of all cannabis products in California, Washington, Nevada, and Colorado, all combined. Marijuana edibles contribute to about 11-13% of all marijuana sales. Due to the vaping crises in the country, consumer behavior has changed. Many are shying away from vaporized products and drifting to edibles, flowers, and pre-rolls.
Many companies are sliding into beverages as a healthy wellness alternative like White Claw. Cannabiniers recently launched cannabinoid-infused sparkling water. While some products include CBD alone, others are infused with CBD: THC ratios for micro-dosing purposes. Cannabiniers’ description of its product is straight from White Claw playbook.
Maikel van de Mortel, EVP of marketing for cannabiniers, stated, “Creative Waters has expanded our portfolio of smoke-free products for consumers seeking a safe easier way into marijuana consumption.”
