Amino Acids Assist Hair Strength, Does this Mean Hemp Seed Oil and CBD is Effective as Well?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a renowned compound derived from the hemp plant housed within the cannabis plant. It has been deemed effective in treating restlessness, anxiety and an array of physical discomforts. This being said, many firms have been infusing CBD into hair products with the aim of strengthening hair and ridding one of damages.
According to the CEO of Earthly Body, Kevin Wachs, “CBD oil contains all 21 known amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein,” reports CBD Testers, who sourced The Zoe Report. Due to the presence of said nutrients, the CEO claims that one’s hair can benefit from a “build-up [of] collagen and elastin, which are essential to hair strength.”
While the aforementioned claim is true, CBD Testers argues that there is no actual scientific evidence that concludes the use of CBD as serving as a viable remedy for ‘dry scalp or a receding hairline’.
To see whether Machs’ is right in making said claims, CBD Testers has provided examples of doctors who seem to be siding with the CEO.
For instance, Miami-based dermatologist, Dr. Loretta Ciraldo was referenced saying that CBD contains vitamins that protect one from “pollution-induced free radicals,” adding that “one of the amino acids in CBD oil, tyrosine, helps to maintain hair color.”
Another doctor, Dr. Eshan Ali, from the Beverly Hills Concierge Doctor was quoted saying that, “People with receding or thinning hair may benefit from CBD use.”
All this being said, consumers shouldn’t blindly purchase a CBD oil, as not all oils are made equally nor are they of one specific type of cannabinoid. This leads to the question as to whether CBD is effective for healthy hair, or do we need to consider a full spectrum solution. Due to the fact that studies are lacking in this respect, it is ideal to wait until further news regarding CBD uses for hair is made available.
