Tom Hanks Uses His Twitter and Instagram to Clear Name of False CBD Endorsements

  • The likeness of Tom Hanks has been used in multiple advertisements in the last few years for CBD products.
  • Tom Hanks has once again refuted the companies’ statements via Twitter and Instagram.

Tom Hanks is a treasure in Hollywood, though he’s had quite a week lately. However, one rumor that he is not letting slide is his reported endorsement of CBD. While there are many celebrities that have already gotten on this trend, the two-time Academy Award winner is staying off of it. While many of the athletes and A-listers have actually voiced support for the benefits of CBD use, Tom Hanks has been subject to the same marketing gimmicks and tactics that notoriously plague entites like Dr. Oz and Shark Tank.

While the names of these nefarious CBD oil products seem to continually change, slapping on a new label and product name to falsely advertise with any known famous people, CannaPro was the one in which Tom Hanks referenced. They recently decided to include Hanks in their advertisement for their CBD products. The advertisement included a picture of Hanks, alleging that he’d made the following quote:

“The advances Dr. Oz has made in the CBD industry are remarkable. I wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t had the chance to try it out for myself. After using CannaPro CBD for two weeks I was already feeling like a new me.”

Once Hanks discovered that his likeness was being used, he decided to take to both Twitter and Instagram to make sure that his followers knew exactly where he stands. On his post, he included a screenshot of the advertisement, stating explicitly that he would never be involved with an endorsement like this, adding that CannaPro’s efforts are a “false and an intentional hoax.”

Hanks was determined to clear his name of these misleading marketing gimmicks, taking to his 16 million followers on Twitter too:

Hanks is no stranger to being involved in these lies of celebrity endorsements. Cali Naturals featured Hanks’ likeness in one of their advertisements last summer to show off their products as well.

Interestingly, both of these advertisements ended up using the same image that were taken of Hanks back in 2016 when he was publicizing the film Sully. During the film, he beautifully portrays the story of the US Airways heroic  pilot Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, who is known for landing his plane in the Hudson River after he struck a flock of geese.

A stark reminder that no one is off-limits and to always conduct proper due diligence before buying any cannabidiol-infused product. It is also common sense to research the best CBD oils first and order from a company who is transparent, offers third-party lab test results and doesn't resort to fraudulent adverting tactics to offload their product on unsuspecting consumers.
