Cannalysis Receives $22 Million in Funding for Cannabis Testing Expansion

Regulations require that cannabis, hemp and CBD products have to be thoroughly lab tested before they are made available in the market for consumption. There are, however, many black-market products out in the market that have not been adequately tested. Consumers need to understand that there is great risk in consuming cannabinoids that have not been tested by licensed laboratories.

Cannabis-testing labs are currently regulated independently by the state governments hence causing inconsistencies in the quality and standard of cannabis products. CanLab, a CBD, hemp and cannabis testing laboratory network, has come up with a Universalized Ecosystem that will build on trust and transparency in the cannabis testing industry.

Cannalysis Lab, a California-based licensed and ISO/IEC 17025-accredited hemp-testing laboratory in the United States, has received a funding of $22 million from CanLab. With this capital, Cannalysis Lab will be in a position to expand its operations across the country to almost double its current size.

“Hemp and Cannabis testing is still a young industry which presents a lot of opportunities as the utility of CBD continues to become prevalent. The legalization of cannabis has also become widespread, making the marijuana market a safe and secure market with enormous opportunities,” said Gary Hopkinson, CanLab’s Executive Chairman. “Cannalysis has set the bar high in the standards of CBD and hemp testing through the employment of reliable modern technology and automation of the process. We are working together with Cannalysis to help hemp growers and CBD brands pass the ever-strict compliance regulations,” he added.

Through a combination of validated scientific methods, robotics and its proprietary technology, Cannalysis provides testing services that meet the state compliance standards. This has enabled the company to reduce errors and variability hence yielding accurate results. Data automation and robotics have helped reduce human errors. Consumers can also follow the testing process in real-time.

“Cannalysis laboratories feature the most recent technologies for testing CBD, hemp and cannabis. We offer quality beyond compliance through streamlining the process by pushing test results to other third-party platforms and automation of sample preparation,” said Brian Lannon, Cannalysis CEO.

CBD Manufacturers and cannabis growers can follow up testing processes and access the company’s APIs to automate the flow of test results between third-parties integrating them with the internal ERP. Apart from potency testing, Cannalysis goes ahead to test for other substances that may be harmful to consumers, such as microbial, heavy metals and pesticides.
