Weedmaps To Give Advertising “Leg Up” In Cannabis Market For Licensed Businesses In 2020 Only

On Wednesday, August 21, leading technology and software infrastructure provider within the cannabis market, Weedmaps revealed a number of plans that will help small cannabis businesses strive, especially those operated by minorities. Said plans will be executed in the form of tools, which can be used in applying and safeguarding cannabis licenses.

Four tools free-of-charge will be offered for said firms to benefit from. The first is professional development, where information on different topics from how to operate within the cannabis space to regulatory frameworks will be delivered.

Second, is ongoing coaching and professional support. With this service, businesses will learn and secure access to consultants where marketing strategies will be expounded upon as well as regulatory compliance.

As for resources, which follows suit, this is simply a database compiled with compliance materials among others. Finally, once said businesses have acquired the necessary licenses, they will receive a standard listing on the Weedmaps website and application for one year – which is valued at $5,000.

CEO of Weedmaps, Chris Beals appears to be passionate about this mission, as he has expressed the unjustness experienced by small businesses who are trying to “make an honest living and provide safe, legal cannabis products to medical patients.” He is hopeful that said tools will “give a leg up to entrepreneurs that need and deserve support.”

Interestingly, this isn’t the only plan Weedmaps has. As per the press release, the firm will only promote U.S. businesses that have a state license number starting early 2020. In addition to obtaining the license, retailers will be required to present a lab report and a “Brand Verified” program.

The latter move is allegedly done to protect the Weedmaps platform, as well as patients and consumers. Beals said:

“It also underscores our commitment to working with lawmakers and regulators to foster a flourishing legal market.”
