Santa Barbara Welcomes First Recreational Cannabis Dispensary ‘Farmacy’’

On Saturday, Graham Farrar opened the doors of ‘Farmacy’ – the first recreational cannabis storefront in Santa Barbara – an occasion graced by hundreds of people anticipating to purchase the licensed products.

Once Proposition 64 passed, Farrar had to apply for the storefront again after making an initial application through a medical marijuana ordinance. He got one of the three cannabis dispensary permits in the city but stated that he encountered stern opposition from critics of cannabis in Carpentaria.

At the ribbon-cutting, enthusiastic customers awaited to sample the 350 cannabis products, including lotions, edibles, and others. Companies in the city, such as Farrar’s own Glass House make some of these products.

The ‘Farmacy’, on the corner of Mission and De La Vina streets has two security guards and fourteen surveillance cameras. Entry requires the presentation of a valid ID. The business employs 18 people, will give the city over 8% sales tax and 6% cannabis tax from each purchase. The establishment opens daily from 10 am to 8 pm.
