With instructions from corporate headquarters, the Family Video in Newton had decided that it would sell CBD oil, but a letter from the office of the county attorney quickly thwarted this attempt.
The management of the Family Video decided to support the CBD industry, trusting the benefits of CBD, by ensuring that all stores had CBD oil products. The manager of the Newton and Grinnell Family Video, P.J. Todd made it clear that apart from Iowa, they also have other stores all around the Midwest.
Todd also stated that he received just a handful of products such as lip balm, but had minimal sales, and shipped the products off to another store after three days. Todd said that the store advertised the sale of these products with a sign out front and even trained its personnel.
The Jasper County Attorney’s office gave the establishment 30 days to halt the operation. The assistant county attorney Peter Blink clarified that it could be an honest mistake born of the confusion with new CBD laws in Iowa. For this reason, the letter was a simple warning to halt the illegal operation; therefore, avoid criminal consequences.
After resolution of the situation, there are no more CBD products in the store. However, Todd notes that it’s unfortunate that customers still come to the store to purchase the products, only to find none.
