Comparing Cannabis’ Differences to Alcohol: The Future of Medicinal Drugs

With increased cannabis legalization, more people are enjoying the numerous therapeutic benefits the herb offers, with its psychoactive effects getting more desensitized. Getting high from cannabis is no longer a thing that disgusts people.

Although awareness is still rising due to the many benefits of cannabis, its psychoactive compounds are still in use. Attempts to legalize the substance fully is making people act normal towards this substance’s potency to make users high.

How Cannabis Differs From Any Other Drug

The future of cannabis is different from that of any other drug. While people may think that cannabis will create the same influence on society as alcohol has created, cannabis is still a catch 22. Like any other caffeinated beverages, coffee, or tea, cannabis will be added to our daily routine. Because of its capabilities in solving chronic pain, it will become a better therapy-like substance.

The most significant use of cannabis is solving chronic pain. According to a Canadian study, pharmaceutical products only offer half of the chronic pain relief for 30 to 40% of users. About 40% of persons who use opioid painkillers combine medical cannabis for better results. On the other hand, a 2011 study suggests that by using cannabis three times a day for five days, patients’ chronic pain was alleviated by 27%.

The THC compound in marijuana has pain-reducing properties which target the specific pain areas and gives relief results within a short time.

Science suggests that some active compounds are responsible for offering better moods. The brain has chemicals that activate similar receptors as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). On rodent testing, scientists concluded that endocannabinoids produced by people with chronic stress are not enough. THC can fill up the endocannabinoids scarcity and hence substitute the chemical. More to this, THC helps in normalizing chemical and reducing depressive disorder symptoms.

Cannabis is Slowly Replacing Medicinal Drugs

With the emergence of legal cannabis, the consumption of potentially harmful substances like opioids and alcohol has progressively reduced. This is a contributing factor to worker’s healthier life and with time, people might replace yoga and meditating classes for stress unwinding with cannabis. Cannabis could become an essential ingredient for solving any sort of mental discomfort or physical pain. Cannabis use will not be limited to age, gender, nationality, or social class.

Most users in the category of regular customers will be artists, creative geeks, PTA presidents, and even housewives looking to unwind from daily stress as they currently do with a cup of tea or coffee.
