The Natural Products Expo East trade show took place at the Baltimore convention center on September 12 through 15. Therefore, natural brands had the opportunity to present themselves, their products, and the way they are innovating the health food industry.
One of the brand that attended the trade show is Mood33, which presented its new CBD line. The brand’s co-founder, Eric Schnell, shared with BevNET that the company has moved up the ranks in California among beverage brands with THC-infused products. The company has also received requests from retailers to release products of a CBD-only variety after the U.S. Farm Bill passed.

The formulas are made with organic cane sugar and the calories range from 60 to 70 per bottle.
Steven Kessler, who is the brand’s chief sales officer, shared with BevNET:
“We all know the competition, it’s a lot of young bucks. But none of them are seasoned beverage entrepreneurs that have been through what we’ve been through.”
He also discussed the current regulatory environment concerning CBD food and beverage products. The brand is targeting “safe states,” it is identifying local distributors and retailers, and it has also partnered with master distributor World Finer Foods.
Kessler also stated,
“The big boys are not friendly [to hemp] right now and understandably why. But at the same time a lot of the regional, quality retailers are going to jump in the game just like we did to capture the opportunity before others do.”
In an interview with Force Brands, Michael Christopher, the co-founder and CEO of Mood33, shared what differentiates Mood33 from “the rapidly expanding CBD-infused beverage category.”
He stated:
