On July 15, 2019, the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC) issued permits to businesses for the sale of hemp-derived CBD products. These permits are temporary and will terminate on February 29, 2020. This will give the ATC time to receive certification from the Louisiana Department of Health that the products comply with state law.
According to WAFB9, HB 491 is being considered by the Governor for signature. According to the news report it, “paves the way for licensed retailers to legally sell hemp-derived products, including CBD oil.”
