Unregulated CBD Market Gives Great Importance to Reading a Product Certification of Analysis

What is a Certification of Analysis?

The wide variety of CBD products available in the market may confuse many consumers and potential buyers. Most people may be at the risk of buying a harmful or less effective product due to lack or incorrect information and awareness about these products.

Third party testing of products is being conducted by many companies so as to get information on the concentration of CBD, if there is any THC in the product, potential side effects, and other contamination.

For now, customers can ask for a Certificate of Analysis at their respective cannabis stores and distributors. Although these certificates depend on the individual laboratories that tested the products and verified them, there are a few common things in all certificates.

Following are the main components of an analysis certificate:

  • The product’s name, its manufacturing company name, and the batch number are mentioned in every certificate of analysis.
  • A timeline of when the product was received by the testing laboratory, the testing date and finally the date of certification is contained in each analysis certificate.
  • Every certificate contains the composition of the product. All the cannabinoids and alkaloids that are present are listed and their respective amounts are mentioned.
  • A certificate also contains information on the number of other contaminants that are present in the product. Any harmful chemicals that are contained in the product are listed because hemp being a great absorbing species absorbs all the chemicals that are present in the soil including fertilizers and insecticides.
  • Finally, every certificate bears the details of the laboratory where the product was tested.

Till the time the CBD market is regulated, consumers have to careful while opting for any CBD product. Hence analysis certificates will help consumers in choosing better products.
