Cannabis Strips: How Tiny Tongue Films of Medical Marijuana for Oral Consumption Work

With the expansion of the cannabis industry, companies are continually coming up with innovative ways for consumers to benefit. While smoking and vaping are still commonly used, increasingly popular are various types of edibles. This ever-growing category includes anything that is ingested, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin. The newest product to join this category are cannabis strips. The strips are a tiny film of cannabis that is placed under the tongue to dissolve. They are becoming quite popular and it is their uniqueness and efficacy that are making them stand out – but, how do they work?

When placed under the tongue, the strips interact with the saliva in your mouth. More specifically, the saliva-producing membranes in your mouth are resistant and able to regenerate cells very quickly. They have many s with the main one being to protect your oral cavity from any germs or bacteria that may enter. This membrane is also responsible for sensitization which is important for eating. Further, it also keeps the mouth moist which aids with chewing and swallowing. This means of absorption is key in administering various types of pharmaceutical products.

This option is highly suitable as the membrane is permeable to certain molecules making for quick and efficient absorption. It is also considered more consistent in comparison to other edibles. When certain edibles are consumed, the gastrointestinal track uses the acids and enzymes present to convert the THC into a stronger psychoactive experience. Most medical patients wish to avoid this, making the cannabis strips a good option. They also come into effect in half the time as other edibles because they do not need to be digested.

There is, however, a proper method to consuming cannabis strips. You need to keep the strip right under your tongue where the sublingual gland is located. If the strip is placed on the tongue, it won’t be effective. They are often mistaken for working in the same way that breath strips do, but they won’t that way. Breath strips are merely breath refreshers and they are not intended for absorption through the membranes of the oral cavity. Finally, once the product is placed under your tongue, your mouth needs to remain closed for five minutes. The product will dissolve, and the results will occur shortly thereafter.

It is important to research the various brands that are currently on the market as some are more effective than others. Certain products take longer to dissolve or longer to come into effect. Regardless of the brand, the experts suggest waiting the full five minutes to ensure optimal results.
