US Hemp Authority Certification: Industry-Wide Roundtable Training Program

The quality of hemp in formulas is extremely important – it influences the quality of the ultimate formula and it can impact consumer satisfaction as well.

The U.S. Hemp Authority is one certificating body that explains it has an industry initiative to “provide high standards, best practices, and self-regulation, giving confidence to consumers and law enforcement that hemp products are safe and legal.” As a report by NuLeaf explains, “According to the Farm Bill, cannabis and related products containing 0.3% THC or greater are now classified as marijuana, which remains a Schedule I drug [and is federally illegal].”

The U.S. Hemp Authority guideline effort is funded by the US Hemp Roundtable and other organizations have joined in as well, including the Hemp Industries Association, testing laboratories, and quality assessment firms.

Extensive Guidance Procedures for Growers and Processors

It is always important to determine the information provided by a certification authority. In this case, the U.S. Hemp Authority Certification program has an extensive manual, entitled Guidance Procedures for Growers & Processors. The manual is 46-pages long, and it discusses a range of topics such as sampling and handling, THC analysis, containment testing, storage and distribution, record retention, processing, employee training, and so much more. With all the information available, those who rely on the certification can feel confident that the platform has all of the information necessary for companies to make the right decisions.

A Training Program to for Certification

Another prime feature of this certification system is that it has a training program to guide users through the certification process and to prepare them for an audit. The training program discusses various topics, including quality management systems, ISO quality standards, employee training for best practices, good manufacturing practices, and good agricultural practices. The training program may be ideal for those who are looking to prepare their business in case of an audit.
