Panacea Life Sciences Donates $1.5 Million to Colorado State University’s New Cannabinoid Research Center

As per recent announcement [1], women-led, Colorado-based firm focused on the medical impact of cannabinoids, Panacea Life Sciences, has recently donated $1.5 million to the Colorado State University (CSU). This grant will supposedly be used to establish a cannabinoid-based research center.

According to the Dean of the College of Natural Sciences, Jan Nerger, this partnership with Panacea will hopefully drive them towards becoming leaders in the cannabinoid research space. In addition, Nerger said:

“This analytical research facility is unique in the region and Ms. Buttorff’s [CEO of Panacea Life Sciences] extraordinary gift places CSU in an unparallel position to advance research in this burgeoning area.”

As for how the funds will be allocated, the university has decided to use it as research funding, operating expenses and the overall establishment of the lab, offering testing tools and having standard analysis practices in place.

Buttorff has since expressed excitement in partnering with CSU, as she too was a student there and graduated with the honorable title of “Distinguished Alumna” in 2014. In addition to this gift, Buttorff also creased the Leslie Cavarra Buttorf Scholarship in Statistics, which offers full scholarships to exceptionally performing students in statistics.

Chemistry professor and associate dean for research at the College of Natural Sciences, Melissa Reynolds also commented on this milestone reports Denver Post [2], where she shared that there are endless areas that can be explored within the cannabis industry, and with the gift received the university can finally study them one at a time.

Based on her experience, CSU has sufficient experience in a number of facets involving particular cannabinoids in terms of its “botany, chemistry, biology, psychology […].” Furthermore, she said:

“Panacea’s focus in developing scientifically driven and medically focused products will be further advanced with our partnership with CSU.”

As for actually conducting research, the school is expected to commence sometime in the spring!
