CBD Anti-Aging Benefits: Will Cannabidiol Beauty Properties Disrupt the Skincare Industry?

CBD’s benefits are mainly based upon anecdotal evidence – that is, personal stories on how the substance has helped men and women with various issues. Many view CBD as a source to alleviate pain, stress, and anxiety. Now, some are considering it as a potential solution for the aging process. There are already a number of CBD skincare products on the market that come in the form of lotions and creams.

The big question that arises, though, is whether CBD can really address aging issues such as fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, fine lines, and the like.

Currently, there are not many studies that address whether CBD has anti-aging potential. However, there are still considerations by dermal skincare professionals at to whether it can still provide a benefit.

For instance, Dr. Cheryl Bugailiskis, MD, a board-certified pediatrician and cannabis specialist explained to Bustle,

“the skin is the largest organ and our body’s first line of defense against unwanted organisms. As such, this protective layer has the highest amount and concentration of what are called cannabinoid receptors. Cannabinoid receptors are located throughout the body as a part of our endocannabinoid system — a checks-and-balance matrix, which regulates a number of critical bodily s and responses such as stress, pain, appetite, inflammation, sleep, immunity and even processes like how much or how little oil our skin produces.”

As a result, CBD may be able to respond well to the receptors in one’s skin. Upon doing so, it may be able to reduce inflammation and mitigate issues such as acne and psoriasis.

Given that there are an absence of studies, but still considerations into CBD’s potential on improving skincare issues, one of the best ways to find out if CBD actually works to reverse the aging process is to try the products.
