Castleton University Launches Cannabis Studies Certificate Program

A new program has launched at Castleton University. For those who are interested in cannabis studies, then Castleton University is the place where individuals can fulfill their learning interests.

According to Heady Vermont, which reported on the new program, the new program will begin this fall and feature 60 students. There will be three sections. Last week, in preparation for the program, the university hosted a Cannabis Studies conference, where individuals were able to network and watch a CBD cooking demonstration. A discussion concerning how the Vermont brand and economy would look like if the state adopted a tax and regulate model.

Phillip Lamy, a professor of sociology and anthropology at the university shared in his introduction at the conference,

“Cannabis is not new, it’s just newly discovered.” He continued, “It’s like Columbus discovering the New World, it was always there. We just rediscovered it, although for many cultures it never disappeared.”

The university’s webpage also features the program requirements. The page further indicates that

“This program is designed to be completed in conjunction with an undergraduate degree or as a stand-alone program for personal and/or professional enrichment only. Students pursuing this as a stand-alone certificate will not qualify for Title IV federal financial aid. Students receiving federal aid must maintain full-time status with non-cannabis courses in order to avoid additional tuition charges.”
