Former Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz reported to CNBC’s “Squawk Alley” that she views CBD like tech 20 years ago. She also disclosed that she had invested in California-based CBD company Caliva. Despite California's legalization of adult-use and medical marijuana, marijuana is illegal under federal law. According to a Yahoo! Finance news article, “Despite some optimists saying federal legalization is right around the corner, Baltz doesn’t think it’ll happen soon. In the meantime, though, she thinks Caliva and other companies operating in California will learn a lot ‘that hopefully will help other people decide to legalize.'”
Bartz is not the only one whose invested. Joe Montana, NFL Hall of Fame, has also invested over $75 million into the company’s first fundraising round. The company manages various components of the CBD formulation process from “seed to sale” in San Jose, California.
Barz also plans to join the Caliva board. She’s stated,
“When I saw this opportunity, I said this is the new world here. It’s like being back in tech 20 years ago. It’s like so much growth potential, so many ways to change people’s lives so I’m in.”
