CBD in is a growing trend and even though Hershey CEO Michele Buck said the company is monitoring the trend, it does not have plans to add CBD to its food products yet.
She shared with CNBC’s Squawk Box, “It’s a huge trend, so we’re evaluating it but have no plans at this point in time.” She added that there are some regulatory issues that need to be resolved as well. She stated, “Frankly, there’s some work to do from a regulatory perspective. Currently it is not legal to ship interstate a food product that has CBD.”
At this point, there needs to be clarity from regulators and legal hurdles that need to be removed before companies can comfortably move into the realm of CBD food products. Currently, CBD in food products is prohibited.
