Bulgaria may on its way to considering a chance to its position on the sale of hemp-derived cannabidiol. Food authorities issued a Free Certificate of Sale to Kannaway, a US-based CBD company. The certificate provides that the company is certified to “comply fully with relevant requirement of the Law on Foodstuffs of the Republic of Bulgaria and of Regulation (EC) No 852/2004 of European Parliament and the Council on hygiene of foodstuffs,” according to Forbes.
A company representative shared with Forbes that, “We can not find news of any other country in the EU issuing a Free Certificate of Sale for CBD.” Prior to receiving the certificate, Kannaway traveled to Bulgaria for meetings with government officials and there, they explained the positive impact that CBD could have on the country’s economy and population.
Kannaway CEO Blake Schroeder reportedly stated about the development,
“As the EU continues to navigate its stance on CBD, we are proud to continue paving the way for the acceptance of CBD in Bulgaria just as we have in many other countries around the world. With this authorization, we hope that we can establish our company as pioneers in Bulgaria’s CBD industry and leaders in CBD education throughout Europe.”
