Amsterdam: The City of Medical Marijuana and Cannabis Education?

One of the things Amsterdam is best known for is its abundance of cafes. Tourists flock here every day of the year whether it be for recreational or medicinal use, but in a little building on the outskirts of the red-light district lies a hidden gem; Cannabis College.

Many people who have been to Amsterdam have casually strolled past, unaware of the fantastic experience that can await them behind their doors and what's more it's FREE to visit.

Education, Education, Education

The staff here know their business and are open to answering any questions on Cannabis, whatever form it takes from discussing potential medicinal benefits oil may have to the many industrial uses of hemp, let them give you the power of knowledge. Or perhaps that person in your group who may still be sitting on the fence.

Never Seen a Plant?

You can pay an extra Euro or two to venture down into the bowels of the building to view the operation from behind the scenes. Here you get to witness the marvel, and skill, that goes into producing the star of the show. An absolute bargain of an offer and definite must see.

Vaporizing

Learn more about vaporizing on your visit and even give it a try. Here a member of staff will talk to you about the potential benefits of this method over others and help you understand if this may right for you. All they ask for is a small donation (Euro or two) to cover the cost.

Where to Go Next

It's important to remember where you are. Potentially in one of the most liberal cities in the world, there are more cafes and specialty shops than you can shake a stick at but how do you know you are not getting ripped off or the product is any good? At the Cannabis College, they will offer you their expertise and knowledge of the city to point you in the right direction. Armed with a map, they will highlight reputable retailers and establishments and score out any places that don't merit your business – what a great team!

Activism – Fight for Your Right

Cannabis College says that one of their main responsibilities of operation is their activism. If this is something that you are interested in, they can put you in touch with groups in your country and support you on your activism journey.

While this can be as long or short a visit as you make it, you will leave Cannabis College feeling more knowledgeable than when you entered. Whether you are a novice or experienced in this field, this is a little detour in your trip will stay with you for years to come.

If you want to visit, you can find the college here: Oudezijds Achterburgwal 124, 1012 DT Amsterdam.
